Custom software development

When off-the-shelf software does not fit how your business works, we build a focused web application that does, and connect it to the tools you already use.

  1. Smallest useful version
  2. Review together
  3. Hand over

In short: Build custom software only when the task is central to how you make money, happens often, and existing products force workarounds such as finishing the job in a spreadsheet. FYAdvisers starts with the smallest useful version, tested on your real data, and hands over documentation and access so you are not tied to it.

Custom software is an application built for one business’s way of working. FYAdvisers builds focused web applications for small and mid-sized businesses in Singapore: tools that replace a spreadsheet, a paper form or a long chat thread with something your team can rely on. We keep the first version small, connect it to the software you already use, and grow it as the business needs.

This is part of our IT consultancy work.

What we build

  • Quotation and estimating tools. Line items, quantities, pricing and terms in one editable place, exported as a PDF or shared as a link.
  • Internal workspaces. One screen that brings together information your team currently pieces together from several apps.
  • Client portals. A place for customers to submit details, upload files and see the status of their request.
  • Admin dashboards. A clear view of records, approvals and outstanding tasks, with the right permissions for each person.
  • Document workflows. Applications that read uploaded files and prepare structured outputs, such as checklists or first drafts, for a person to review.

Examples from our work

V On Construction prepared quotations with pen and paper. We built a digital quotation workspace with editable line items, PDF export, shareable quotes and change orders for revisions. The team reviews each quotation before it goes to a customer.

For an individual PropNex agent, we built a workspace that groups related WhatsApp conversations into deals, pulls out the people and details involved, and prepares reply drafts and calendar actions for the agent to review.

Build, buy or connect

We do not start from the assumption that you need custom software. Many problems are solved by an existing product, or by connecting two tools you already pay for. We recommend building when:

  • the task is central to how your business makes money or serves customers;
  • it happens often enough that small frictions add up;
  • existing products force workarounds, such as exporting to a spreadsheet to finish the job;
  • you need the data in a shape no product offers.

If those are not true, we will say so and suggest a product or a workflow automation instead.

How we build

  1. Map the task. We watch how the work is done today and agree what the first version must do.
  2. Build the smallest useful version. One workflow, end to end, tested with your real data.
  3. Review together. Your team uses it, we adjust, and only then do we add the next piece.
  4. Hand over or maintain. You get documentation and access. We can look after it through website and app maintenance, or hand it to your own developer.

We build web applications with common, well-supported technologies and hosting, so you are not tied to us or to an unusual stack.

Who this suits

  • businesses whose core process lives in spreadsheets, paper or chat apps
  • teams that have tried several products and still finish the job by hand
  • owners who want a small, working tool first rather than a large project

What to prepare before we talk

  • The task you want the software to handle, and who does it.
  • The tools and files involved today.
  • A few real examples, with personal details removed.
  • Anything the software must connect to, such as accounting or CRM tools.

Get in touch and we will suggest the smallest version worth building.

Frequently asked questions

When is custom software worth it over an off-the-shelf product?

When the task is central to how you make money, happens often, and existing products force your team into workarounds. If a well-known product does 90 percent of what you need, it is usually better to buy it and connect it to your other tools.

What kinds of software do you build?

Mostly web applications for internal teams and their clients: quotation and estimating tools, internal workspaces, client portals, admin dashboards and document workflows. We do not build games or hardware-level software.

Who owns the code?

Ownership and licensing are set out in the agreement before work starts. We document what we build so another developer can maintain it.

How much does custom software cost in Singapore?

It depends on scope, integrations and the support you need afterwards. We outline the proposed work and pricing after an initial conversation, and usually suggest starting with the smallest useful version.

Can you take over software someone else built?

Often, yes. We first review the code, hosting and documentation, then tell you plainly whether to maintain, improve or replace it.
