# AI consulting for businesses

> We help Singapore businesses decide where AI is worth using, prove it on their own data, and then build it into the tools they already run, with a person in charge of anything that reaches a customer.

An AI consultant in Singapore should help you answer three practical questions: which of your tasks AI can actually help with, whether to buy a tool or build something, and how to introduce it without putting customers or personal data at risk. FYAdvisers does this for small and mid-sized B2B businesses, and then builds what we recommend. We test every idea on your own examples before you commit to a build, and we design each system so a person reviews anything sent to a customer.

FYAdvisers was founded by Fiona Wang. This page is part of our [IT consultancy](/services/it-consultancy/) work.

## What our AI consulting covers

### AI strategy, kept practical

For most small businesses, an AI strategy is a short list rather than a long document. We look at how work moves through your business, find the steps where people spend time reading, sorting, searching or drafting, and rank them by how much effort they take and how risky a mistake would be. If you want this as a fixed-scope piece of work first, see our [AI readiness assessment](/services/ai-readiness-assessment/).

### AI implementation

Once a use case is agreed, we build it. That might be an AI step inside an existing workflow ([AI integration](/services/ai-integration/)), a connected process across your tools ([workflow automation](/services/workflow-automation/)), an assistant that carries out multi-step tasks ([AI agent development](/services/ai-agent-development/)), or a small [custom application](/services/custom-software-development/).

### Choosing tools and models

We choose the model per task, based on accuracy, cost, speed and where the data is processed, and we explain the choice before building.

## Typical use cases for Singapore B2B companies

- **Enquiry handling.** Reading free-text enquiries, summarising them and suggesting the right service or person, with your team replying. See also [speed to lead](/services/speed-to-lead/) and [AI chatbots](/services/ai-chatbots/).
- **Document reading.** Pulling requirements, dates, amounts and line items out of tenders, contracts, invoices and forms into a structured list for checking. See [AI document processing](/services/ai-document-processing/).
- **Drafting.** Preparing first drafts of replies, proposals and quotations from information you already hold.
- **Searching your own records.** Letting staff ask questions across documents, chat history or CRM notes.
- **Translation.** Preparing English and Chinese versions of messages for a person to check, useful for teams working across languages.
- **Sales research.** Finding and qualifying prospects from public signals. See [AI lead generation](/services/ai-lead-generation/).

## Examples from our work

For [Chromatic Media](/work/chromatic-media/), we built a tender preparation workflow that reads uploaded tender files and produces a compliance matrix and proposal drafts for the team to check.

For [an individual PropNex property agent](/work/propnex-agent/), we built a workspace that groups WhatsApp chats into deals, extracts the people, details and outstanding items, and prepares reply drafts and English to Chinese translations that the agent reviews. It also includes Google Calendar tools.

At [Jeff Learning Center](/work/jeff-learning-center/), a tuition centre, an enquiry form uses AI to suggest a matching course and alerts the owner straight away.

For [V On Construction](/work/v-on-construction/), we built a digital quotation workspace, the kind of structured system that AI drafting can later sit on top of.

## How a project runs

1. **Discovery.** We talk through the process, the people involved and the systems in use, and agree one task to start with and what a good output looks like.
2. **Prototype with your real data.** We run the AI on a set of your past examples, with personal details removed where possible, and compare its output with what your team actually did. This is where weak ideas are dropped cheaply.
3. **Build.** The working version is connected to your tools, such as email, WhatsApp, your CRM, shared drives or accounting software, with a clear review point.
4. **Human review.** A person checks anything that reaches a customer, and prices, commitments and advice stay with your team.
5. **Monitoring.** We log what the AI suggested and what the person changed, so errors can be spotted and the instructions improved over time.

## What drives the cost

We outline pricing after a conversation, because the main cost drivers vary widely between projects:

- **Number of processes in scope.** One task is very different from a business-wide review.
- **State of your data.** Clean, consistent records are quicker to work with than scattered files and chat history.
- **Integrations.** Each system that needs connecting, and whether it has a usable API, adds work.
- **Review and accuracy needs.** Tasks where mistakes are costly need more testing and a stricter review step.
- **Model usage.** AI providers charge by usage, so volume and document length affect running costs.
- **Ongoing support.** Monitoring and improving the instructions after launch.

## Data and governance

If your project uses personal data, the PDPA applies. PDPC's [Advisory Guidelines on use of Personal Data in AI Recommendation and Decision Systems](https://www.pdpc.gov.sg/-/media/Files/PDPC/PDF-Files/Advisory-Guidelines/Advisory-Guidelines-on-the-Use-of-Personal-Data-in-AI-Recommendation-and-Decision-Systems.pdf), issued on 1 March 2024, explain how consent, notification and accountability apply when personal data is used to develop and deploy AI systems, and how service providers should support the businesses they build for.

For generative AI, IMDA and the AI Verify Foundation published the [Model AI Governance Framework for Generative AI](https://aiverifyfoundation.sg/resources/mgf-gen-ai/) on 30 May 2024. It sets out nine dimensions, including accountability, data, testing and assurance, security and incident reporting.

In practice, we agree with you what data each system sends to an AI provider, what is stored and for how long, and who can see it. We use providers' business API terms, and we keep a record of what the AI produced.

## Build or buy

Many tasks do not need a custom build. ChatGPT's business plans, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Gemini in Google Workspace cover general drafting, summarising and searching inside those tools. Many CRMs, helpdesks and accounting packages now include AI features too. We recommend these when they fit.

A build makes sense when the task depends on your own process, needs data from several systems, must follow your rules exactly, or needs a review step that general tools do not provide. Often the answer is a mix: an off-the-shelf tool for general use, plus one targeted build for the process that matters most.

If you would rather compare providers, our [AI development directory](/find/ai-development/) and [list of AI automation agencies in Singapore](/blog/best-ai-automation-agencies-singapore/) can help.

## Who this suits

- Small and mid-sized B2B businesses in Singapore with a repetitive reading, sorting or drafting task.
- Owners who want a straight answer on whether AI is worth it before spending on a build.
- Teams already paying for AI tools who are not sure they are being used well.

It suits less well if you want AI to make final decisions on prices, credit, hiring or legal matters without a person checking.

## What to prepare before we talk

- The task or process you want to fix, and who does it today.
- A handful of real examples, with personal details removed.
- The tools and systems involved.
- What a good result looks like, and who should check it.
- Any rules about where your data can be processed.

## Frequently asked questions

### What does an AI consultant do?

An AI consultant looks at how your business works, identifies the tasks where AI would genuinely help, recommends whether to buy a tool or build something, and plans how to introduce it safely. At FYAdvisers we also build what we recommend, so the advice is tested against a working prototype rather than left as a slide deck.

### Is AI consulting worth it for a small business?

It can be, if it is kept narrow. A small business rarely needs an enterprise AI strategy. It needs one or two tasks where people spend time reading, sorting or drafting, a clear view of whether an off-the-shelf tool already covers them, and a small build only where it does not.

### Do you only recommend things you can build?

No. If an off-the-shelf tool such as ChatGPT's business plans, Microsoft 365 Copilot or Gemini in Google Workspace covers the need, we will say so. We also say when a task is better handled with plain rules, or left as it is.

### How much does AI consulting cost?

It depends on how many processes are in scope, how messy the data is, how many systems need connecting and how much review and monitoring is needed. We outline scope and pricing after a first conversation about the task.

### Is our data safe during the project?

We agree what data is used, where it is processed, who can see it and how long it is kept before any testing starts. We use providers' business API terms and remove personal details from test examples where we can.
